About Us


Executive Chef Justin heads up the cooking staff at Mitch’s BBQ. He began his training as a BBQ champion at the age of 15 with his dad and attended culinary school at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He worked at the Carolina Restaurant of the Pinehurst Golf Resort in Pinehurst NC, followed by the Walnut Grill in Wexford. After returning to Pittsburgh he worked with the famed Michael and Robert Uricchio Brothers of LaForet Fame who opened Crosskeys Restaurant in Fox Chapel. He continued honing his expertise while working with chefs Chris Obrien of Hyeholde fame and Brian Hammond at Restaurant Echo in Cranberry TWP. Mr. Hammond is about to embark on a new venture on East Ohio Street on the North Side of Pittsburgh. Justin then returned to Crosskeys for another stint, while still working with his father in the BBQ business. When the Crosskeys was sold and closed he decided to devote his life to BBQ style cooking. His vision is to take BBQ beyond our perception of BBQ.
